Anna Bhagya Scheme Ahara Karnataka
Anna Bhagya is an important welfare scheme launched by Karnataka State for providing food security to disadvantaged families. Under this scheme, those Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY)-suffering families are provided free rice per month at a scale of 10 kg for each individual. Thus, no family in Karnataka will go hungry due to lack of funds. Where rice distribution is not possible, the government provides a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of ₹34 per kg directly into the beneficiary’s bank account. Such twin perspectives open options to all eligible families and keep their chances of availing services intact.
Beneficiaries must have a valid BPL or AAY ration card and a biometric authentication at the nearest Fair Price Shop (FPS) to avail of the facility. The scheme not only facilitates food availability but also helps to reduce the financial burden of low-income families. The Anna Bhagya Scheme plays a significant role in the fight against hunger and malnutrition, meeting basic nutrition needs supporting the state’s commitment to achieving sustainable development goals related to poverty and food security.
